Adopting a Puppy

We are excited that you are considering a Ruff Country Labrador puppy to add to your family! We want to make sure our puppies end up with loving families who will enjoy them for a lifetime and ask that each prospective family fill out an adoption application here. We will review the completed application to see if you are a good match for a Ruff Country Labrador puppy. Review results are sent out via email so please keep an eye out for that email once you complete the application. We typically respond within 48 hours.
After approval has been determined, you will let us know which color/gender and litter you would like to adopt. Depending on the litter and timing of deposit/reservation, this may be either a specific collar color or it may be the color/gender you would like and we will assign a puppy pick number. We will then collect the $200 reservation deposit which can be paid by credit/debit. The deposit reservation invoice will contain the litter name, gender/color, and registration type you are initially reserving for adoption. All puppies are sold on limited AKC registration (no breeding rights) unless an agreement has been made prior to reserving. Puppies are only considered reserved once the deposit invoice is paid.
We keep a waiting list of interested folks for our upcoming litters and then work through the waiting list in date order once the litter is born. Please note that our anticipated litter dates are estimated; sometimes our girls come into season a little early and sometimes they take their sweet time! Once the litter is born, we reach out in date order to see if folks want to reserve a puppy; folks have 24 hours to respond to us before we move to the next person on our waiting list.
We will reach out to schedule go home days and pickup times*. Pups will go home after they have had their final vet check with health clearance approval and first round of vaccines. We let our families know when that initial round of vaccines is administered so they can schedule the next puppy health visit with their veterinarian. The balance for the puppy adoption must be paid in cash at time of pickup. Our families have the option of picking up their puppy from our house in person or we may be able to deliver for an additional fee. We are also happy to meet at either Raleigh-Durham International Airport (Raleigh, NC) or Piedmont-Triad International Airport (Greensboro, NC) for an additional $200 fee. We can also recommend a fantastic flight nanny whom we've worked with previously who will fly with the puppy in the cabin.
*We try to be flexible for our families and typically have 2 weekends from which to choose from for pick ups. We also are happy to discuss local delivery for an additional fee as well. It is important for puppies to go to their families as soon as they are able to so they can get a solid start acclimating to life with their new family. If puppies cannot be picked up by the 2nd pickup date, there will be a $25/day boarding fee.
